stumped! -

"So what's next?" I asked.

Contemplating on my next project, that's what! To be honest I still have a lot of house chores to do but I don't feel like doing it...

All I want to do is stare at the projects I can find on Ravelry - [these are my favorite patterns], and dream that I have the yarn specified on the project and knit to my heart's content.

Oh I almost forgot, I am waiting for the yarn I bought on Knitpicks [they were on sale - 50% off on their worsted weight yarn] so now I can do the granny square blanket! I'm so excited, I hope it will arrive soon... I just checked my order status and it's still "on process". I guess there were a lot like me who grabbed the chance to enjoy their sale, AND that means will have to wait for 2 to 3 weeks to get those yummy yarns here... I also bought a book called Circular Knitting Workshop... I'm still dreaming of making my very own sweater in round you know.

I also enrolled myself to another one of craftsy online workshop - this time it's called Fit your Knits by Stephanie Japel. That's where I also got my One Skein Shrug at that time they were offering it as free online workshop.. so happy I took it :) I was just one of the lucky ones who stumble upon it while cleaning their inbox and saw the notification *grinning*.

I feel so lazy today, I just either want to curl up in bed or do surf the net... that all.. nothing else.. Oh gees, but I guess I have to pull myself up and do the unthinkable.. HOUSE CHORES!

Sunday - MOTHERS DAY

Yesterday was Mother's Day, (from where I came from)... and we celebrated it with couple of my friends from my badminton club.  We had potluck, and the sharing and mingling did me good.  Wishing it will be more often (the get-together) *smiling sheepishly*

And the day before that was my hubby's birthday, we just had some Saaddedin cake, didn't do any celebrating, as he wants to be done next month together with my birthday.. double celebration he says :)
On my knitting side, I have 3 test knits to be finished by the end of May, so far I finished the one for an 18-mo old girl, and I casted on the second one for 4-12 years old PIXIE HAT.

The last one is a shawl and all of them will be revealed as soon as I got the designers approval to post a picture of each project.

So what's been bugging me these past weeks, you ask? well I wanted to acquire some super-washed merino yarn on bright colors, so I can make some granny square blanket just like what this guy did...

Don't you just love the colors he used?! So now I'm checking out which yarns is good that gives a much yardage so I can order them and start crocheting. It will definitely look good on my daughters bed. :)  

Am looking for a DK weight that is super wash.. preferably merino wool.  That wouldn't be so hard now I have narrowed down the search,isn't it? (ha and so I thought!).

I went to RAVELRY to do some yarn search and the return gave me 17 pages,argh!, so much for positive thinking, I guess I have to do some "cost-benefit analysis", like which yarn gives more yardage, has a lot of wide range of color and price. 


I'll try to see if I can do some study and will show it to you once it's done... I hope it will  be easy.... *fingers crossing .

achievements this week! {*whew!}

some achievements this week...

last friday was a great night for us, Abbie was in a dance number showcasing her dancing talent...




As well as Angel, who participated (dance) on the Teacher's Day program just this morning Sunday. I'll post the video after it has been uploaded on my FB, (which btw is taking forever, since it's only >100MB.

As for me, I just finished my second socks this time it's a toe-up basic stockinette socks, I made this for my eldest daughter Angel. She liked it very much, showing below is her wearing the socks.

This time, showing you the socks on a steel hanger which i also made as a sock blocker, Since I can't find any sock blocker here and probably there is none as well in Manila this did the trick. I found the diy (do-it-yourself) on the net, it was easy to do by the way. I lost the link, so if you can give me the link, i'll post it.

So what next for me? I'm now knitting a swatch so I can do the colin sock... to see what I am talking about, there is a yahoo group for this one and you check it here.
Colin's Sock KAL, I just love the heel that he did on his, so I am going to make one for my DH.

I seem to forget to take a photo of my Kimono Wrap, oh well, on my next post then.

Below are some of the newly acquired yarns this January & February....
The first one is probably a discontinued yarn by Patons, I hope someone can tell me if it's not...

The next is Lion Brand Sock Ease and a Lace cone, but actually it looks more like a Fingering yarn the label says it's number 1...

This is one is Katia Extra Pel, I am thinking of making a bolero from this yarn, i bought four of these

And the last is from Swiss Fabric, not yet sure what to make of these, but will make some swatches and then will see..

some yarn dyeing

D id some yarn dyeing, I followed Eunny Jung's Dyeing Self-Stripping yarn instructions and find it easy to follow.

Here's the result of my second yarn dyeing project.... I used scheepjes Invicta Extra color white/cream.
mix Kool-Aid (Cherry, Grapes and Pineapple) that' the only flavor a friend was able to find in Manila , and take note this is not sugar-free, and to my horror, I found out that you have to rinse it well, to get rid of the sugar or else the yarn will be stiff when dry.

This yarn will be a socks..hopefully soon. As I want to finish my SOSTii before I start another knit or crocheted project.

new year, new yarn

Happy New Year

M y first blog for the year, actually I should have blog this last month, but was caught up with the parties and ravelry and of course Multiply that I forgot [again!] all about my blog.

So here are the photos of my yarn bought, I know that I wrote on my previous blog that the yarn photo posted will be my last yarn acquisition for the year 2007, but can't keep my promise *smiling shyly* am still waiting for my digicam to upload all the photos on my pc then upload them on my flickr so I can continue this blog.

I like these yarns, they are very soft and like the sparkle added to it. Here are the details of the yarn

1. It is made of 48% viscose, 4% polyester and 48% acyrlic blends.
2. Has a gauge of 24 stitches by 28 rows = 10cm (4inch)
3. It's a Sport Weight Yarn
   
4. Machine Washable
5. Needle US size 4 or 3.5mm
   

I'm thinking of using it for a shrug, and they are cheaper compared to Neveda Skol and Scheepjes Invicta that I usually buy.

For the first yarn photo, am thinking of making this as my daughter's shrug, but haven't decided what pattern to use, any suggestion?

test pattern for a friend

I volunteer totest the pattern for a friend on Ravelry, and here's the photo..

I used Neveda Yarn Nice.

I think it's a sport/light weight yarn. I like the feel of the yarn it is soft and has a sparkly look...

It is made of viscose, acrylic, and polyester, using 5mm hook.

Notice the new look of my blog.? I changed the template and replaced most of my sidebar but...notice the new progress bars? Those who are already have Ravelry and want one like this, you can ask Casey if he can accommodate you for this access. I was up all night fixing this and didn't make any success, good thing there several Raverlers who were willing to help, special mention to kmunson779, AliceInDilbrtlnd, NightlyKnitter, Lolaj, Casey and Conicuts.

I'm still tweaking it until it meets to my taste...but their help are very useful.

The Trellis Tunic - from Crochet Today April 2007 issue

I am so excited to do this project, I started this last month with this yarn - Scheepjeswol - Superwash Zermatt, but after doing the first half of the tunic, the drape looks drag.

Here is the full shot the tunic I'm making, and hopefully be able to finish it before the month ends. I'm kinda stuck on the shape armholes, and already seek help from Coats and Clark for clarification of the pattern instructions. I just hope I don't mess this up. I am really looking forward of wearing this tunic on the coming Holiday. And if ever I finished this tunic, this will be my very first crochet tunic. Can't wait to finish this one.

I also wanted to share this with you guys, I'm not sure if this is a boucle yarn, it didn't state what kind of yarn except that it's part acrylic, and part wook. What do you think I should make of this? I think I will make a shrug with this yarn.
