Busy, busy me....

As some of you might have known already, I just put up a Facebook page for all my handmade goodies of made to order hand knitted/crocheted scarves, hats, shawlette and shrugs.

I've already accepted several orders I'm working on right now.

I just finished the three knitted orders from my very first customer. Yay for me!!!

So I guess those are the things I'll show you today.


First is the Tomboy Hat, made from Cascade Worsted Yarn. My first time to use this yarn, and I love it!
Such a joy working with this yarn. I'm thinking of getting some for my kids cardigan, hopefully soon.

Next order is a Holden Shawlette, I so like how the yarn has turn out, I was scared at first as to how this would look, but upon knitting the first few rows, and the color changing starts to show, I got excited. I would definetly buy another Wisdom and next time with in bright colors :)

I am so impressed with this yarn, very soft yet sturdy!

something to blog [brag] about

It's been awhile since I made my last blog or brag about my knitting

So here goes...

I'm now on round 37 of Lyra by Herbert Niebling I took this shot when I was on round 33...

sorry if the photo is a bit hazy. Visit the Frog Pond 4x before I reached this stage, the last two frog pond visit were caused by my cats.

First, I left my work on the bed, and attend something in the kitchen, when I returned I found Sweetie nibbling on my needle, all the stitches were off the needles then.

Second, Both of them were playing, and they were chasing each other, Brando jumped in front of me [was knitting then] and as he landed he dragged the work with him and all my needles were all over the floor...so I have no choice but it ripped again.





I'm now is making a shrug but will post all about it on my next blog, with proper photo, anyway there is nothing much else to yet, as I'm still on row 26 of the back part of the shrug which is purely stockinette stitch.

i need (a) HERO(es)

oh boy my favorite tv series will be aired on Sept. 22, 2008, I can't wait to see what's going to happen to Nathan, Claire and my favorite Hiro, - and of course, same with the rest of the HEROES character.....

I mentioned on my previous post that I am reluctant to knit the infamous Lyra by Herbet Neibling.

I'm using DMC Babylo 20wt Ecru...I had a hard time on casting-on, I prided myself as a self-taught person when it comes to needlecraft, most of the time i.e., but I guess I haven't encountered this type...


I first did the crochet in a ring cast-on long tail cast-on, next is german long tail cast on, but I was not successful, so confused and frustrated. I almost give up and I was already thinking of putting away the pattern and thread but a hero came - Dixie - she didn't stop asking my progress on knitting, and eventually she walk me through per round via Google Talk...yup she is now one of my favorite Hero. I also learned from her that's it's okay to knit the first few round on a straight needle, and she even shared her technique, using a wooden toothpick, it work for me. What I did was I tried the crochet in a ring cast-on again and then spread the stitches on the toothpick, this time all the stitches stays in place, unlike before where all of them slipped off my aluminum dpns. Now I am on round 7 there isn't anything much to see so no photos yet.

What else, let see, I finished knitting Shifting Sands for hubby.

The kids had a school program - Linggo ng Wika , sadly my youngest was not able to participate cause Preschool Dept was reschedule and having a not thinking mom moment, didn't bother to read the school diary, stupid me huh? I was so guilty that day, good thing my youngest was in a very jolly mood that day and didn't had any tantrums.

I am now in the middle of knitting socks (actually I am now on the heel part)it's for my eldest and I am using my own design. I'll post a photo once I'm done.

And of course the latest addition to our family, up another one I adopted a kitten last week. She is almost 2months, she is half Siamese(Mom) and half Persian (Dad), Welcome to our family - SWEETIE!

trying to knit... here's the result

As posted earlier, I was having a hard time getting my knitting mojo back, still don't know the reason why. Most of my online friends told me that it will come back soon. Well it did, but not the way it was used to be ...hmm...

I haven't started again my SOTSii, I might redo the whole thing. I'm suppose to make a swatch of the Mystery Lace as well, but am getting disheartened by the result of the first few rows, my thread size 10 is hard to work with. I hope I can get some nice lace-weight yarn when I get to HK.

Wednesday, just finished my first knitted lace purse after my so-called "lost knitting mojo". I'll be knitting another purse using DMC-Petra no.5, I have already cast-on and hopefully be able to finish it before end of the month. I'll post another photo once finished. Ravel it. let me know what you think, O.K.

friendship bracelet

I've knitted Perdita - by Elizabeth Klett to see how this will look like when finished, guess my curiousity got the best of me - when I saw this at knitty, am also thinking of making this one for my best bud though am not sure if she will like this one. I don't know yet what to make for her - should I make her a hat, (I don't think she is a hat person ) scarf or a cozy for her favorite coffee mug...really don't know yet.




The green was just a test one, and when Angel saw it and learned that is can be a friendship bracelet, she immediately asked me if she can give it to her friend-classmate whose leaving for an early vacation in Manila, same thing when my Abbie (my youngest) saw the beads on the bracelet, she asked me to make one for her, using her favorite color - which is PINK so off mommy to make one for her as well, now after finishing this two, I can't seem to get enough of making my friendship bracelet...will be doing some more.

I really like the Lilly of the Valley pattern, and curious on the Lilac one as well but it only uses 4 beads per pattern repeat don't know for sure about the blue bell but will see, if my artistic side got hold me - who knows . Need of stop blabbing about this newest fo of mine have to cook lunch, my youngest is coming home any minute now.

F inally done clue 2 for sotsii...I though I would never be able to get pass clue 2..now on to clue 3 which according to DK, this is where I can chose to lengthen or shorten my stole. and since the only difference will be 1.75", I guess it will not be that obvious if i choose the shorten version. It would mean skipping at least total of 8 rows (4 are the stitches indicated in the pattern, 4 is the k5,p...and k5).

So what do you think should I shorten it or stick with the pattern?

Am just a bit annoyed of the result of my clue 2, see the uneven stitches....I must have done the yo, on the wrong stitches....I only noticed it when I was pinning it to take a photo of it. I don't want to visit the frog pond again..

Anyway I will do my best to keep my clue 3 error-free...wish me luck...

omgoodness....

I feel so drain, tired and cranky today. Maybe because I haven't gotten enough sleep for almost a week now. And my youngest daughter is sick since Wednesday, she had fever for almost 3 days, kept her awake due to coughing, and stuffy nose too. She was diagnose to have Broncho Asthma, needs to be on nebulizer every 6 hrs round the clock.

I am also posting my Secret of the Stole II clue 2, yup am still on clue 2, most of my co-members in the group is now on Clue 5...geesh...talk about being way behind... I promised to myself, need to finish clue 2 this week...

oops..saudi net has block photobucket site.... darn, just when I transfer some of my photos this happens....grrr... oh well I'll just post the photo on my next blog about SOTSii...

sotsii - clue 1 done!

F inally done with my clue 1 of Secret of the Stole II...and am now on row 55. To show off my 1^st clue here is the photo, taken yesterday early afternoon.

I felt an accomplishment finishing clue 1. I'm just a beginner knitter, and kinda like the lace knitting technique. There are still more clues to finish and I just hope I'll be able to cope with the challenge, and finish it even though I didn't reach the weekly deadline.

What do you think?

Rip, rip, and rip...my mystic stole. Yep 3rd time, and I am now on row 41. I almost visit the Frog Pond again.

Nearly finished on that row when these irritating stitches stares at me like she's taunting me and said "do you dare to frog?" Of course not, cause that would mean I have to rip 2 ½ rows! but i have a solution..and here are the photos to proved that I didn't frog the whole row....

Photo 2: Here I am trying to frog the stitches that has only the wrong one and trying at the same time not to let stitches to get loose so I used a safety pin to hold the stitches.

Photo 4: See here, yarn that was on top was used to be in front, so I moved it to that back and used a crochet hook to sling it in the previous stitch...and ...

sotsii second swatch

M ade this second swatch for the KAL which will begin on January 18, it is called Secret Of The Stoleii. This time I used DMC-cebelia size 10 with 2.5mm straight needles, and I think this time I made it look lacey. But am still thinking of using a fingerweight or sock yarn though.

The first swatch was a bit too tight, as suggested by a friend in Ravelry - Shansays, and i agree with her. Good thing I posted it on SOTSii-Ravelry group. So she suggested to go up one more needle size to make it more lacy.

Only four more days to go and the KAL will begin...can't wait to get started. So to those of you who are interested, join in the fun cause once the KAL begun, it will be closed for registration.

first mystery stole

I am in a group called secretofthestoleⁱⁱ and we just started to make swatches but the KAL will officially start on January 2008. So if you are interested, sign up so you can prepare for the KAL.

The project ask for a lace weight yarn, but I don't have access to that kind of yarn here in Saudi, so instead I used Scheepjes Invicta Extra a fingering yarn and 2 mm needle, though I am thinking of using 2.5 so to make it more lacey, and here's the result.

I also don't have a blocking wire or whatever you call it for blocking knitted lace, so I used 2mm dpns instead, it may serve the purpose for the meantime, i.e. I will have to think if other ways to use for blocking, I might ask DH to bring to some hardware/electrical store to look for wire. But that's too early to think about, first will need to focus on my project resolution/knitting 7 crochet resolution. I can't wait to start doing the KAL, and I find using chart is more easy than reading written instructions. I'm a chart-instruction person!

So that I can be able to finish the KAL, join other CAL/KAL, and might even test some patterns to some friends. :) Not to mention doing some scouting for crochet and knitting books.

I'll post another project hopefully before the year ends. It's a scarf from Sharr using this yarn, and I test the pattern for her. Though I haven't gotten the chance to ask Sharr if I can post the scarf I made.
