A new shrug called “A TOUCH OF PURPLE”

And so another project has just got off my hook yesterday… and just love how I did this one, this is my 3^rd time I did this shrug, and maybe you can say I know my way around now..     As I get to make it fit for my teenage daughter.

A TOUCH OF PURPLE

Needle size: 2.50mm
Project started: 03.10.2012
Project finished: 11.10.2012
Garment Size:  32"


Modification made on this one:

• used 2.50mm needle and follow the pattern for size 32”
• I didn’t do all 94 rows until I close the other end for the arms, I only go until I reach somewhere between 80-84 rows, then connect both ends.

Saturday Blues

Was feeling a bit low in the morning when I woke at 4:45 am, must be due to lack of sleep, and feeling so tired the entire week.  So many activities done and planned.

So to cheer me, I went to look for some inspiring project, and dream and wishful thinking that I will be able to do all those lovely tops, cheery afghans and cutesy hats…then I remember I have this bolero I started the other day… it’s a 3^rd time I did this bolero, using Mimi’s pattern.

This pattern starts from one sleeve and ends at the other sleeves, and I just finished the first sleeve, and now on few rows of the back… I used Cannon size 8 cotton thread – variegated violet.

And just by looking at this one, it gives me enough inspiration to finish the bolero and can’t wait to start another project using a different shade.

Don’t you just love the colour? I have other variegated ones that can’t wait to show them to you guys. I will try to show them to you on my next post.

Withdrawal symptons

 yeah that's right... after the skywalker, I made a shrug for Arwen as a birthday gift.  This is for 2T.

This is the same pattern I used for my daughter - purple victorian shrug

It has been 4 days since I last hold held a hook or a needle.. now my hands are itchy to start another project, but I can't seem to decide what to make. I promised one of the seniors in the club I'm with (sporty club i.e.) that I will make her a bolero, specifically like a cardigan, she wants her front covered.

So went to my stash and look for some yarn that she would like, unfortunately I don't have enough yarn.. so I went to my LYS and bought DMC Petra in the shade of mocha...

So now I have my yarn... the only missing item is a pattern and I'm good to go... I'm choosing between crochet bolero from Drops and a knitted one called Easy Shrug... the only problem is the gauge - my guage; they are off... :( I hope I can find a pattern soon... this withdrawal symptoms is getting harder to control as the days passed by...

my former love is back!

Have you ever have that feeling of elation when you got the chance to "meet up" with your former love? lol, not that kind of love your thinking!

I'm referring to badminton. I fell in love with the sport when I was in high school, and even became a varsity player, but I didn't had a chance to join in any tournament, cause I had this feeling that I wasn't in good shape nor had ample skills to compete back then (it's not like I am now that good, lol). I would have continued playing even in college days if only the university I enrolled at (UST - GO TIGERS!) offered that sport (for my batch).

And just three weeks ago, I was back in the court again, enjoying every relay with gusto and trying to remember all the footwork drill my couch has taught me, though some of the drills have been long forgotten my smash and drop technique are still there. There are still much to re-learn, and I'm happy that my DH has joined me in playing the sport. The badminton team was organized by the parents of the student at FUGEN (my daughters' school).

And to conquer the fear of competing, I joined the inter-school tournament which will be held tomorrow October 16 - I'm entered at the lowest category F - which is fine by me, actually I don't mind those kinds of things - , so far I haven't been getting any cold feet yet. I try not to think about the tournament, more of psych myself that it's just a game, and I am there to have fun and get the chance to meet other people and nothing more. I keep telling myself - don't fuss to much on footwork drill, and what if I'm out of timing in hitting the bird, besides getting a chance to be in a tournament means I have a potential to win the game. So wish me luck!

Update on my knitting, well kinda admit, I am neglecting my Lyra, I'm irritated at the circular needle I'm using, i don't have smaller cable size the only one I have are either 90cm or 100cm, and I don't have dpns that is longer than what I use to knit socks. Now I know why there are different cable sizes, I thought it's just a waste of money purchasing circular needle with different cable sizes.

As for the shrug I'm knitting, I just finish the back part, I'm now doing the belt portion will be attached to the back and the sleeves..I'll try to get a decent photo of the back and belt portion. Hopefully I can finish it before the month ends.

So now I'll go back to bed and get that much needed sleep for tomorrow's game, till next blogging.

something to blog [brag] about

It's been awhile since I made my last blog or brag about my knitting

So here goes...

I'm now on round 37 of Lyra by Herbert Niebling I took this shot when I was on round 33...

sorry if the photo is a bit hazy. Visit the Frog Pond 4x before I reached this stage, the last two frog pond visit were caused by my cats.

First, I left my work on the bed, and attend something in the kitchen, when I returned I found Sweetie nibbling on my needle, all the stitches were off the needles then.

Second, Both of them were playing, and they were chasing each other, Brando jumped in front of me [was knitting then] and as he landed he dragged the work with him and all my needles were all over the floor...so I have no choice but it ripped again.





I'm now is making a shrug but will post all about it on my next blog, with proper photo, anyway there is nothing much else to yet, as I'm still on row 26 of the back part of the shrug which is purely stockinette stitch.
