Yehey, done with my baby ripple afghan project. My youngest DD just loved it; she kept me awake last night because she wants her blanket to be finished by today.
While I was in Manila, and had a chance to shop for yarns in Makati, I dropped by at DREAMS – Glorietta I, Makati and bought these beautiful yarns from LionBrand Baby Soft. I was looking for lavender or a purple color to match with my ripple afghan I’m doing from Leisure Arts – Creative Crochet book, but unable to find one so I settle for Pastel Yellow, Cream and Pale Pink (in replacement of the lavender/purple one).
The afghan measures 29”x41”, I didn’t make a tension swatch since I don’t know how to do it. So the measurements according from the book, wasn’t followed.
It took me less than a month to finish the afghan. I started it while I was on vacation with my family in Manila last May. This will be my first afghan. At first, I wasn’t sure of myself if I’ll be able to make an afghan, because I haven’t tackle big project like this…and a ripple one at that.
It is such an overwhelming experience, finishing a project like this. It’s been a while since I felt this kind of excitement; like when I was able to finish my big cross – stitch project way back when I was still single, then finish two more when I was already in Riyadh.
I am now on my next project, it is a neck-warmer for my DH, and next I’m thinking of making my eldest a poncho or another blanket, hopefully it will be done by early September. As for myself, am thinking of a Mobeius Scarf or a Seraphina Shawl and be done by it by early October, just in time for the winter season here in Riyadh.

Beautiful blanket! I love the colors--they really stand out nicely!
ReplyDeleteJust a comment--it would be better/preferable if the music would be a choice, not just automatically played when opening your blog. If someone were reading this at work, it might be a problem. And then you have legal "performance rights" issues. . . .
