I just finished this nice lace cap, pattern from Knitting Daily the other day, this is also in the Interweave Crochet Winter 2007 issue, I think.
You can finish this pattern in one sitting, it's that easy, the pattern is easy to follow and it really is nice when after you finished and see the spiral pattern as it goes down... the top is a lace motif, and the spiral patterns uses hdc stitches.
I named this Bubble Gum Lace hat, because of the color of my yarn, btw the yarn I used is Red Heart which I bought in Divisoria [Manila, Phil] last May while I was on vacation. I am also thinking of using the other color like the ones on top of the pile, on the same cap...hmmm

It's nice that my daughter agrees to model this hat for me...isn't she a beauty?...My kids just love to pose for me...
Here, she wants me to take her photos as a stolen shot, and she can't keep herself from laughing...she's having a hard time controlling her giggles...
I also made some swatches, for Dahlia Top by Lily Go (go and check out her blog, she made lots of nice top), I'm making (it's not the knitted one which btw is also lovely, once I'm more confident in my knitting, my next top will be knitted Dhalia).
On the 1st photo below, I used DMC -Senso Microfibre cotton thread, size 3, I think this is a much bigger thread than what Lily used. I used Clover 3.50mm hook, it's a double ended hook, but it has a different size on both ends.

For this swatch, I used Neveda Yarn Sirene 2000, it's a fingering yarn, which I think is much closer to the one Lily used on her Dahlia Top, (she used Cannon thread size 5, the one I have is only a size 8 ), guess will have to buy more Cannon this time size 5 when i get back in Manila next year.
But I haven't check the computation for this yarn, I used a Susan Bates (silvalume)3.75mm hook,
I'm not sure yet what hook will I used for this project though.
